Cleaning Soot From Your Home
3/9/2022 (Permalink)
What About the Soot on Various Surfaces?
Charring is a typical result of a fire from the heat generated by the flames. During a standard restoration project, we work to restore, resurface, and replace materials as needed. We utilize a broad range of proven techniques and specialized equipment to handle even the most stubborn residue from soot and smoke. For example, soda blasting with a combination of sodium bicarbonate and pressurized air helps to blast away slight charring and residue carefully. The bonus is that the sodium bicarbonate is a deodorizer, so it serves a dual purpose of battling smoke odors.
The nature of particles from soot and smoke is that they settle on ceilings, walls, and various flat surfaces quickly after a fire. DIY methods alone are often very time-consuming and may be extremely counterproductive. Our skilled technicians on the job bring best practices for each unique situation as we use dusting, vacuums, pressure washers, and dry or wet methods for handling the soot throughout your Hayward home. During this cleanup, our previously mentioned HEPA filtration also ensures that any particles that we loosen do not become airborne for redistribution throughout the interior.
For any areas that call for further intervention, we put controlled demolition practices into place to ensure restoration to like-new condition.
Three Basic Carpet Cleaning Methods...
2/7/2022 (Permalink)
SERVPRO of Texarkana provides carpet cleaning services for residential and commercial clients. Both owners of the company have a long history of performing carpet cleaning. Both owners learned carpet cleaning from their fathers.
There are three primary carpet cleaning methods available to consumers on the Peninsula. 1 - Shampoo. 2 - Steam (Hot Water Extraction) 3 - Low Moisture Cleaning.
Which method is best? Service providers and consumers debate this issue. Let’s review the three methods of carpet cleaning to see if one is better than the other.
Shampoo method is the original carpet cleaning system. It employs an electric powered rotary brush to apply cleaning detergents with a brushing action. Shampooing does an excellent job of cleaning but leaves detergent residue on the carpet fibers. Shampoo cleaners say this residue and the suspended soil particles will turn into tiny crystals that can be vacuumed away.
Steam – Hot Water Extraction is designed to apply cleaning agents to attack soils and then the residues are flushed away using a hot water rinse that is removed with a “wet” vacuum machine (an extractor). This system will do an outstanding job of cleaning carpeting that is very soiled. However, it has the potential of leaving carpets damp.
Low Moisture Cleaning is a category that includes “dry cleaning”, “bonnet cleaning” and “encapsulation.” Basically all low moisture cleaning is based upon a delivery system in which the cleaning agents (and a minimal amount of water) are applied to the top surface of the carpeting using soft brushes, swirling cotton pads and the like. The cleaning agents (especially encapsulation) are designed to grab onto soils, dissolve them and turn the residue into crystal that can be vacuumed away. This may sound a lot like what happens with shampoo detergents, but the chemistry is far more advanced and works better.
SERVPRO of Texarkana can perform each type of cleaning. However, our preferred method is called “show case”. We use a shampoo machine to gently scrub the carpet and loosen deep down soils and then we use steam (hot water extraction) to flush everything away. Our certified technicians spend extra effort in the vacuuming phase to leave as little moisture as possible in the carpet. We believe this provides the best combination of cleaning systems.
Spring Cleaning Tips!
6/17/2021 (Permalink)
Spring has arrived and we want you to keep your home or business in good condition all year long! We want you to prevent mold, water leaks, and even fires!
In the meantime, here are some helpful tips about Spring-Cleaning for your OFFICE:
-Divide your workspace into zones: Determine how you want and need to use the space and set up zones for your daily functions. You may require a workspace for your computer, a library area for your research, a storage area for supplies and a filing area for your archives. This will provide a foundation for a more efficient use of space.
-Keep only what you need at arm's length: Boxes of pens, stacks of papers and old coffee cups need to go. Rid your desk of visual clutter by paring down the items on top to the essentials only. Supplies, paperwork and personal items should be kept in the zones you've established for them.
-Create a daily paper system: Consider creating hanging files or baskets labeled "to read," "to do," and "to file." Establish set days for each, so that you don't get behind or feel the overwhelming need to do everything at once.
-Sort your catch-all drawer: Use drawer dividers to give everything a place, like compartments for paperclips and rubber bands. Go through the drawer every six weeks and clear out anything that is out of place or isn't being used.
-Eliminate digital clutter: Digital clutter can be just as stressful as physical clutter. Organize digital files and your email inbox just as you would paper files- with a system of logical and clearly labeled folders. Also, keep the icons on your desktop to a bare minimum, and trade in sticky notes on your monitor for calendar reminders.
-Disinfect regularly: Prevent the buildup of dust, dirt, food stains and fingerprints. Wipe down your desk, phone, keyboard and monitor once a week with disinfecting wipes.
Dashing Through Your Ducts
4/22/2021 (Permalink)
Duct cleaning generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers, heat exchangers heating and cooling coils, condensate drain pans (drip pans), fan motor and fan housing, and the air handling unit housing.
If not properly installed, maintained and operated, these components may become contaminated with particles of dust, pollen or other debris. If moisture is present, the potential for microbiological growth (e.g., mold) is increased and spores from such growth may be released into the air of your commercial business. Some of these contaminants may cause health effects in people if they are exposed to them.
Ventilation systems are often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality. Make it a priority to inspect the ductwork of your business.
If your HVAC has been operating for some time without attention, it could be circulating one or more of the following:
- Dust
- Pollen
- Odors
- Dirt and debris
- Other contaminants
The benefits of servicing your HVAC unit include:
- Helps to restore peak energy efficiency.
- May help to eliminate offensive odors.
- Helps reduce the potential for mold growth.

Why You Should Never Use Bleach to Kill Mold
12/11/2020 (Permalink)
Nobody wants mold in their home, so when you spot some, it may be a natural reaction to want to clean it yourself but think twice before you grab that bottle of bleach off the shelf. Using bleach to treat mold can actually make the problem worse! Even the EPA and OSHA have taken a strong stance against using bleach to treat mold growth.
Bleach is designed to work on surfaces that are not porous, but mold thrives in porous areas. Bleach is about 90% water, so once the chlorine evaporates, the leftover moisture creates a perfect place for mold to grow. Though it may look like the bleach has killed off the growth, it has actually only killed the top layer of growth and left the roots. These roots allow the mold to grow back stronger than ever.
Bleach is toxic. Though it is great in small doses for simple cleaning tasks, you definitely don’t want to be dumping large quantities of it in your house or office. Children and pets get into everything – and this includes bleach. Even the fumes can create health problems! There are so many alternative solutions to treat mold with that there is really no reason to put your family or employees at risk by treating mold with bleach.
Bleach can actually weaken surfaces that you put it on. When bleach is used on surfaces such as wood, it begins to eat away at the fibers which weakens the structure. Even the slightest change to an important beam could have disastrous consequences!
When dealing with mold, it is important to make sure it is done right. That is why you should always leave it to a professional. Our experts will get rid of mold quickly and treat the affected areas to make sure that the growth does not come back. If you need mold remediation, call us today at 903-832-4400.
Removing Water Rings from Tables
11/27/2020 (Permalink)
We’ve covered some heavy-duty water damage topics here on our blog. However, what about the little things? Like water rings on tables, for instance? We’ve all had it happen... a guest doesn’t use a coaster, or your kids simply ignore them. Whatever the case may be, it’s still an unsightly problem. If it’s not too late in the game, however, it is possible to remove water stains from your furniture using a variety of tips and tricks found below.
First off, how do cups stain tables in the first place?
Basically, water rings are a mark left by glasses or other damp materials and the wood absorbs the moisture. Sometimes it’s a cloudiness or a white ring (or dark ring) that is caused by moisture that’s trapped in the finish – which is also the sign of a weak finish. In this case, the moisture hasn’t quite reached the wood yet and has just settled into a layer of finish. If you act quickly – there is hope!
The first thing you can try is hot air. Hot air is one of the best ways to treat water marks that have just recently occurred. You don’t need anything fancy either, a hair dryer will do just fine. Using its lowest – but still warm – setting, move the hair dryer back and forth directly over the mark. This should draw out the moisture in most cases, but just be cautious because it will also heat up the wax finish and melt it slightly. Buff out the area with a soft rag once the water mark has evaporated.
Second is toothpaste. Put a basic white toothpaste on a clean, dry rag and dab it directly onto the stain. This method works by using the abrasive qualities of the toothpaste and water extraction alone. Let the toothpaste sit for a few minutes and then gently rub it along the line of the stain. Be sure not to scrub too hard or go too far out of the stain, and don’t use a gel or a brand with bleaching agents. Both could potentially cause more damage.
The third method you can try is mayonnaise. I know, if you’re like me and you can’t stand the smell of mayo, then this may not be for you. Spread the mayo on the stain and leave it sitting for no shorter than three hours, overnight works best. After it has been left on for the desired amount of time, simply wipe it away.
If you’ve got a white ring that doesn’t respond to any of the above solutions, try using superfine 4/0 steel wool and a finishing product. First pour the finishing product on the stain and then use the steel wool to abrade the surface lightly in the direction of the grain (Be cautious and gentle! You don’t want to damage your table more). Use a towel to wipe away the excess finish. When you’re done with the steel wool, use the finishing product one more time to polish the entire surface of the table. Wipe away the oil and put a clear finish over the top.
If you’ve got dark rings, that means the water has already seeped through the finish and into the wood. Unfortunately, when this happens the above techniques won’t be effective. It may need to be refinished.
For your bigger water problems, call SERVPRO of Texarkana. We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 903.832.4400.
Do you Have Cigarette Smoke or Nicotine Odors?
11/5/2020 (Permalink)
Removing the smell of cigarette smoke and nicotine can be a difficult task. There are a lot of misconceptions about smoke and odor and how it can be cleaned. Results also will vary depending on a wide variety of factors. That is why many professional cleaning companies will stay away from nicotine cleaning jobs entirely. However, with the right tools and expectations, there can be dramatic improvements.
Cigarette Odor: Everyone can recognize the smell of cigarettes. After the sweetness of the tobacco has abated, the odor that is left is generally described as stale and musty. Odor is the brain’s response to stimuli from the olfactory system but our memory is triggered strongly by odors. So even traces of an odor to which someone has a strong psychological reaction, will make them think there is a much larger odor problem than there actually is. Conversely, smokers have dulled their sense of smell to cigarette smoke.
Properties of Nicotine: Nicotine is an organic substance that is a natural part of the tobacco plant. Nicotine is an incredibly small molecule measuring only .01 microns. It is so small that it can pass through material that we typically think of as solid. Therefore it can embed itself in almost every type of material that is in any way porous. Also, nicotine can remain airborne, almost indefinitely. If trapped in a confined space such as a car or a room, ambient heat will increase air pressure and therefore “push” the nicotine molecules into anything porous.
The original color of the paint is the white that was protected by hanging pictures. The orange/brown is nicotine damage. The area above the chandelier is most affected because of the increased air flow caused by the rising heat from the light bulbs.
Cleaning Nicotine: The main problem with cleaning nicotine is that it seldom is only on the surface of all of the materials. Nicotine molecules are so small that it can have worked its way into almost every object in a room. Therefore to clean nicotine, it has to be physically removed from inside of every exposed surface. Simply spraying and wiping will not remove smoke odor.
Particularly susceptible materials include: fabrics, carpets, drapes, upholstery, clothing, mats, lampshades, wallpaper, wallboard, dust, sheet rock, plaster, unsealed wood. Popcorn ceilings and ceiling tiles cannot be cleaned.
Steel, sealed wood, stone and plastics generally are less affected.
Note: Odor may also be trapped in vents and air handling systems that can’t be cleaned by conventional methods.
Solution: Understandably, professional cleaning companies have a hard time estimating and then charging to wash the same wall multiple times over multiple days to ultimately only have an unhappy customer. The only way to remove the odor is to remove the nicotine. If the carpets and fabrics are removed, the dust is removed and the walls and surfaces washed – then the best method is to apply a sealer. The sealer traps the nicotine molecule, and therefore the odor, into the walls. If a customer is less sensitive, instead of sealing, an ozone generator or hydroxyl ran for 24-48 hours can help eliminate most of the odors. Ozone machines and hydroxyl's are effective because it destroys organic molecules such as nicotine. Again, results will depend on the severity of the smoke, the duration the materials were effected and the type of materials. We also have powerful fogging technology that can destroy nicotine in hard to reach places. The only guarantee for an odor free environment is to remove or seal the materials that hold nicotine.
Tips for Cleaning a Leaking Roof
10/20/2020 (Permalink)
A roof leak can be a catastrophic problem for your property. Not only are leaking roofs often damaged and unsightly, but the leaks they cause can prove a danger to yourself, your employees, your customers, and your inventory. Leaks lead to slip and fall situations, damage electronics, and encourage mold growth. So how can you clean up after a leaking roof?
Keep Everything High and Dry.
The biggest part of cleaning up after a roof leak is to make sure everything stays dry. You should take these steps:
• Remove anything wet that can be salvaged and take it outside to dry out.
• Tear out any porous materials that may be waterlogged and incubating mold.
• Immediately find the source of the leak and implement a temporary patch if possible.
• Clean, dry, and disinfect the affected area.
• Ward off the area until the issue can be addressed.
If the roof leak is a crisis situation with substantial amounts of water flooding the building or making the roof itself unstable, you may need to evacuate the building immediately and call for help. Be very careful when tracing the source of a leak, and never try to climb onto the roof yourself unless you have appropriate safety precautions in place and the proper equipment and assistance. This is especially true in the middle of emergencies such as storms, hurricanes, and other natural disasters that may be the cause of the roof leak. Remember to first protect yourself and your employees; your inventory can be replaced.

Janitorial Services vs Commercial Cleaning
4/9/2020 (Permalink)
Janitorial services versus commercial cleaning, what is the difference? Although both deal with cleaning and are somewhat related, they both have different things to offer.
Who wouldn’t want a tidy clean office, that has trash cans cleaned each night. The janitorial services provide regular cleaning maintenance so the office is always ready for anyone to come in. The typical services they offer is carpet vacuuming, floor dusting, removing trash and dusting anywhere else that is needed.
The commercial services take care of the bigger tasks that a typical janitorial service probably wouldn’t do. Some services they offer are air duct cleaning, carpet cleaning, tile cleaning, upholstery cleaning and much more. When you need this type of service, ask yourself what needs to be accomplished, and understand the methods used and how they are planned into your schedule. Most of the time SERVPRO commercial cleaning services are dealing with homes or businesses that have had a fire, water damage or a severe storm that has hit.
SERVPRO of Texarkana would love to take on the job that is needed by any customer!
Insulation Removal
3/6/2020 (Permalink)
SERVPRO of Texarkana thinks outside the box when it comes to creative ways to get the job done. Here, we engineered a way to continually extract all the insulation out of the attic with minimal manipulation and manpower of an assisted living center.
Smoke and Soot Facts:
- Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.
- Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.
- The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.
Different Types of Smoke:
There are two different types of smoke–wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Texarkana will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting. Here is some additional information:
Wet Smoke – Plastic and Rubber
- Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.
Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood
- Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.
Protein Fire Residue – Produced by evaporation of material rather than from a fire
- Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.
Call us at (903) 832- 4400 for all your cleanup needs.
Cleaning Up After a Leaking Roof
2/17/2020 (Permalink)
Water stains in dropped ceilings, tracking down the wall or dripping in a hallway are all signs that your commercial building has a roof leak. Even minor exposure can be a major inconvenience. It can disrupt daily business operations in Texarkana and if not taken care of quickly, it can become a costly repair.
What Causes Roofing Leaks
As water flows outward from the leak point, its exact location can be challenging to identify. Some common causes include:
• Age of the roof
• Debris building up and trapping water against the roof
• Gutter backup slowing water flows off the roof
• Missing shingles that may have been ripped off in high winds
Water Damage Cleanup
Once the location of roof leak has been identified and the damaged roof fixed, it’s time to begin water damage cleanup. Depending on the site and severity of the leak, this can be extensive. Although each situation may be a bit different, some common steps must be taken.
1. Remove water-damaged materials.
• From the exterior: Shingles, tarpaper, plywood, flashing, etc.
• From the interior: Fiberglass insulation, drywall, dropped ceilings, carpeting/flooring, etc.
2. Dry water affected areas.
• If appliances or equipment were exposed to water, unplug them and let them air dry.
• Open windows if it’s less humid outside than inside.
• Use fans to speed the drying process.
• Check for mold growth.
3. Disinfect areas exposed to the water
• Wash nonporous hard surfaces such as glass, plastic, and metal with hot water and a nonammonia soap
• Disinfect all exposed surfaces including wood beams and studs with a bleach solution.
• Clean soft surfaces such as furniture, window coverings and carpeting with a disinfecting cleaner
Recovering from a roof leak and restoring roof and ceilings can be a time-consuming, complex process. Water damage restoration specialists in Dallas, TX, can ensure the process is done quickly and thoroughly, allowing you to get back to business.
How to Wash A Comforter
1/28/2020 (Permalink)
Why Wash a Comforter, Linens, and Bed Sheets?
We’re talking about everything on top of your mattress -- sheets, blankets, and comforters. All of these items are meant to keep your mattress clean and to keep you comfortable and warm while you sleep.
But if you don’t clean them often enough, they eventually become a bacterial mess.
What’s on Bedding?
What is on your skin rubs off onto your linens. That includes any ointments, unwashed makeup, and whatever else you’ve carried on your skin and hair and haven’t washed off before bed.
Over the course of just a few days, this mixture will accumulate on your linens and rub against you as you sleep, possibly causing your skin some problems like irritation or acne.
How to Clean Sheets
Sheets are easy to clean. Throw them into your washer once a week using the warm/hot water setting. Don’t overcrowd the machine.
After their wash, throw them in the dryer with a rubber dryer ball to make sure they dry evenly.
Then, store them in a cool, dry place where dust won’t find them. This is how they’ll stay fresh and clean for their next use.
How to Clean Comforters and Blankets
Blankets and comforters are usually protected by your top sheet, but eventually, they need some love, too. These can be washed at home, however, large ones with heavy fibers can be a challenge to wash properly.
For these pieces to be cleaned thoroughly, water should penetrate the fibers to force the contaminants off.
We’ve heard about some trouble people have had at home, and we’ve had this trouble ourselves.
- The washing machine can’t properly soak the comforter all the way through
- The washing machine leaves soap behind
In these cases, you need a bigger and more powerful machine. Some people find a commercial laundromat that can fit their sized comforters, and others take them to their local dry cleaner.
Air Duct Cleaning
1/14/2020 (Permalink)
With your pets spending more time indoors, you’ll want to make sure you change your HVAC filters more frequently. At the most, change your filters every 3 months. They’ll need it!
If your family is sensitive to dust, odors, and other contaminants, consider an air duct cleaning. This service will remove the dust in your air ducts and will help push only clean, filtered air through your system. It takes only a few hours and the resulting improvement in air quality is worth it.
Give us a call. We can inspect your home’s ducts and make a recommendation to keep your home’s air quality safe during the winter.
What Are Textiles and How to Clean Them
1/10/2020 (Permalink)
What Are Textiles and How to Clean Them
Contaminated textiles happen at almost all water damages and fires damages. Our team at SERVPRO of Texarkana routinely packs up contaminated items and takes them to our in house cleaning facility for sanitation.
What Are Textiles?
Picture your home being flipped upside down. Everything that is not attached to the house itself will fall down. Those items that fall are called contents. Now imagine going through all those fallen items and sorting them by what broke versus what did not break. The items that did not break are most likely textiles.
Textiles include items like:
- Sheets
- Blankets
- Shoes
- Clothing
- Stuffed animals
- Toys
- Sports equipment, including helmets
- Hats
We take all of these kinds of items from your property and get them ready for a specialized sanitation wash in a machine called the Esporta.
How to Get Rid of Bad Smells
12/16/2019 (Permalink)
- To perfume the air naturally, cut a lemon in half and set the cut halves in an inconspicuous place, or rub a bit of vanilla on a light bulb
- Most folks know that keeping an open box of plain baking soda in the refrigerator will neutralize bad odors. Sprinkle some into the bottom of the trash can and into the trash bag itself for similar results.
- During nice weather, just open the windows! Let fresh air blow through and push out bad smells.
- Half a cup of baking soda in two quarts of water and a soft cloth or brush also work well for cleaning the fridge, as well as scrubbing down and freshening the tub, tiles, sinks, drains, trash cans, and toilet bowls. For stronger disinfecting properties, scrub with a strong vinegar solution.
- Fresh or leftover coffee grounds will also absorb unpleasant odors in a fridge, microwave, or cupboard. They’ll also sweeten the air inside your car or its trunk. For use in the car, place the grounds in a covered plastic container with holes punched in the lid.
- Boil two parts water with one part vinegar in a microwave-safe container to remove bad smells from your microwave. The vinegar smell itself dissipates quickly.
- Add half a cup of vinegar to a quart of water and allow to simmer on the stove for a few minutes. This will remove smell of burnt food and many other odors from your kitchen.
How Clean Is Your Carpet?
9/19/2019 (Permalink)
Your carpet gets so dirty and you don't even realize it. So many things can seep into your carpet.
One major benefit of a professional carpet cleaning is that it helps extend the life of your carpet. Over time, dirt, dust, allergens, and other debris accumulate in the carpet and get embedded within the fibers which can eventually cause the fibers to split and deteriorate. Removing this built up of dirt and debris will help improve the longevity of the carpet as dust and other debris are more likely to adhere to a dirty carpet than a clean carpet.
Professionals typically use cleaning methods involving hot water extraction to effectively remove the debris from deep within the fibers and leave the carpet sanitized. Homeowners can also help decrease the build-up of debris in the carpet between cleanings by vacuuming regularly.

Esporta Cleaning For Clothes and Textile Cleaning

This machine allows us at SERVPRO of Texarkana to get your clothes back to good condition.
Esporta Cleaning
When someone is dealing with a water or fire damage in their home or business, there are a lot of emotions and things to consider. The idea of handling multiple companies for different parts of the restoration process is a lot to handle. Most customers just want to call one company who can work with them from start to end.
We understand that this is a difficult time and customers need a company who take care of them properly.
This is why we decided to add clothing and textile cleaning as part of our restoration process. Another name for this is soft contents restoration. We can now restore clothes affected by Category 2 and Category 3 water damage, mold growth, and fire and smoke odor removal.
Esporta Wash System
Unlike home washing machines or traditional dry cleaning, Esporta is a wet wash system. Our machine uses a combination of up to six environmentally friendly detergents according to the type of damage the clothing contains.
Textiles are placed inside the machine, where they spin in detergent laden water while staying in place. Since the items don’t move inside the machine, the textiles are cleaned by hydraulic pressure instead of agitation. This makes the Esporta system gentle on all fabrics, even as contaminants are literally pushed out of the fabric by the detergent water

Drying
8/9/2017 (Permalink)
Did you know there is actually a science behind the process of drying? Having the knowledge of psychrometrics is essential to restoring a water-damaged structure to its preloss condition. While your initial reaction may be to grab a few towels to mop up the mess and place a fan or two around the damaged area, your local SERVPRO® Franchise Professionals are trained in the science of drying and follow strict industryapproved standards to help lower the chances of any secondary damages. If your business suffers a water damage, your local SERVPRO® Franchise Professional will:
- Inspect the building to detect every component that is wet to help prevent secondary damage from happening.
- Measure how much moisture is in wet materials and monitor whether the materials are drying properly.
- Speed up Mother Nature by using professional drying equipment.
What exactly does it mean to help “speed up Mother Nature”? A wet building can often dry naturally because the environment always seeks equilibrium. When materials are wet, moisture will naturally move to drier air at the surface of the material–but only if the air is, indeed, drier. The only problem is, nature often takes too long and secondary damages may occur while the building is drying out. Your local SERVPRO® Franchise Professionals have the tools and equipment to help Mother Nature along, including equipment to help dry hardwood floors, tough-to-reach spaces inside walls, and much more.
Your local SERVPRO® Franchise Professionals also use state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and a proven scientific process to help speed the drying of your home or business. It’s not only the equipment, but the technology too. SERVPRO® has developed DryBook™, a proprietary tool that provides real-time documentation and updates on the drying process and helps ensure industry drying requirements are met. With DryBook™ Mobile, you have the ability to know exactly where your property is in the drying process.
The bottom line? Your local SERVPRO® Franchise Professionals have the training and equipment to help make water damage “Like it never even happened.”

Air Ducts and HVAC Cleaning
Ventilation systems are often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality. Make it a priority to inspect the ductwork of your home or business.
If your HVAC has been operating for some time without attention, it could be circulating one or more of the following:
- Dust
- Pollen
- Odors
- Dirt and debris
- Other contaminants
SERVPRO of Texarkana Professionals routinely inspect the heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit (HVAC). Keeping them clean can extend the life of the equipment. This can in turn save you money and give you cleaner air to breathe.
However, duct cleaning is not always necessary. We will make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns. This can save you money and provide peace of mind on the health of your system.
The benefits of servicing your HVAC unit include:
- Helps to restore peak energy efficiency.
- May help to eliminate offensive odors.
- Helps reduce the potential for mold growth.

Destroy Odors with DEODORIZATION
4/5/2017 (Permalink)
Even a small fire can cause odors for years to come if the affected areas are not properly cleaned and deodorized. Fire, smoke and soot damage in your home or business can create unpleasant and potentially permanent problems. As various materials burn, the smoke produced travels throughout the structure, leaving odorous residues and deposits on surfaces and in hard-to-reach places. Unless fast, professional action is taken, these residues and deposits can cause permanent damage to contents and may result in resurfacing odors. With technicians certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration (IICRC), SERVPRO® Franchise Professionals provide specialized services that can rid your home or business of offensive odors left by fire or smoke damage. SERVPRO® Franchise Professionals do not cover up lingering odors with a fragrance; they seek out and remove the sources of the odor. Once the source is found, SERVPRO’s own proprietary line of cleaning products is used to treat and prevent the odor from returning. Any restorable item in affected areas will also be professionally cleaned and deodorized, including furniture, draperies and upholstery, electronics, art, flooring, walls, ceilings, HVAC air ducts, and more.
Ask your Texarkana SERVPRO Professional to explain the various deodorization methods available and which will work best for you. If you or a customer suffer a fire damage or some other accident and require deodorization services, contact us at Texarkana SERVPRO. Whether it’s fire, water, or mold damage, or just a stubborn odor that refuses to go away, we’ll help make it “Like it never even happened.”
Do You Have Dirty Ducts?

Improve your indoor air quality with duct cleaning
Did you know your ventilation system is often the biggest culprit in poor indoor air quality? Inspecting the ductwork in your facility or home should be a high priority. In most cases, the HVAC system has been operating for some time without much attention. Dirty ducts can circulate odors, contaminants such as mold, and irritating dust throughout your building or home. A routine part of your local SERVPRO of Texarkana Professional’s service is inspecting the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning unit (HVAC). Keeping the HVAC and ductwork clean can potentially extend the life-span of the equipment by allowing it to operate at peak condition, which may help save you money. Duct cleaning may not always be necessary. SERVPRO of Texarkana Professionals will inspect your HVAC system and ductwork and make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns. This inspection can help save you money and provide peace of mind on the health of your HVAC system and ductwork. In some circumstances, such as after a fire, smoke, or suspected mold growth, duct cleaning becomes an essential part of the cleanup process. In these cases, your SERVPRO of Texarkana Professional can often restore the HVAC system and ductwork to pre-damage condition. If you have a fuel-burning furnace, stove, or fireplace, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends they be inspected for proper functioning and be serviced before each heating season to protect against carbon monoxide poisoning. The SERVPRO® Duct Cleaning System is proven and cost-efficient. Unlike the majority of duct cleaning services, your SERVPRO of Texarkana Professional uses a portable ventilation and air duct cleaning system to examine ductwork and make a clean sweep, removing years of dust and grime.
The process begins by using patented equipment, including a roto-scraper, which automatically adapts to the duct’s shape and diameter while traveling through the duct, removing debris and filth before vacuuming begins. Next, a powerful push-pull air delivery and collection system transfers the debris from the ducting to a 16-gallon container. Air is filtered through a HEPA filtration system, removing 99.97 percent of the particles in the airstream. HEPA filters capture debris and keep the indoor environment clean. As an optional process, a sealant or coating product may be sprayed to address odor or microbial concerns. Filters will either be cleaned or replaced to remove odor and dirt. For more information on duct cleaning, or to schedule an appointment, contact your local SERVPRO of Texarkana Professionals today at 903-832-4400
Esporta Wash System
3/3/2017 (Permalink)
Sue is working with our Esporta Wash System.
Have you ever wondered how we get your things restored back to their previous state? Take a look at what all our Esporta machine can do!
The Esporta Wash System is capable of cleaning soot, sewage, water damage and bio-contamination.
The Esporta can wash many items which include clothing, bedding, outerwear, pillows, and stuffed animals. It includes leather items such as shoes, boots, belts, purses, and jackets. Plus, the full range of sports equipment, helmets, rollerblades & ski boots. Even ceramic collector dolls can be held stationary for cleaning.
The Esporta Wash System utilizes hydraulic action to force both organic and inorganic contaminants out of the objects to be cleaned. The force applied can be compared to the force of waves crashing against the sand on a beach.
This system is specially designed, scientifically tested and patented. It can’t be found anywhere else.
Due to this technology, the Esporta iS4000 restores 90% of soft contents damaged by odor, soot, grime, mold, and mildew.
Other traditional washing machines work on a basic principle of using the mechanical energy of an agitator, paddle, or tumbling action to wash. This inefficient method predates the Second World War.
We have the latest technology and machines to help your home or business look “Like it never even happened.”
