Our Technicians Have The Proper Cleaning Supplies To Handle Your Fire

Fires in the upper levels of your home can occur as a result of candles, cigarettes, or other naked flames. These situations can escalate when flames latch onto to dry fabrics or natural materials like paper. While often low pressure, these fires can produce significant amounts of smoke, which rise upwards into empty air pockets. On reaching the loft, a fire can start to cause severe damage as it ignites materials like cellulose insulation.
You may find significant smoke residues and soots in your loft, becoming an odor issue that spreads the scent of fire damage throughout your home. These are challenging to remove because there is naturally restrictive access in your loft space, which rules out equipment SERVPRO would traditionally use. Any possessions in your attic may suffer contamination from falling soots, and ventilation systems may also suffer.
Loft inspection is a standard part of fire damage restoration. SERVPRO technicians can enter through the hatch and perform pre-testing on the various materials inside. Depending on the size of your loft space, we may be able to set-up air-scrubbers or other filtration devices to remove malodors entirely from the area. However, providing these devices with sufficient power and room to work may be difficult.
When there are access limitations, SERVPRO technicians can utilize specialist devices. In an odorous loft space, water-based ultra-low volume misters may be a solution. Misters differ from fogging equipment because they release vapor at a slower, more maneuverable rate. They can disperse either deodorant solutions or sealants, which can be particularly useful in small spaces, structural components, ventilation ducts, and crawlspaces.
A ULV Mister works by releasing deodorant or sealant particles. These particles are as small as 40 to 60 microns- about half the size of a human hair. Their small size means they can penetrate even the tightest of spaces to neutralize odors. By combining misters with air-movers, SERVPRO can increase the amount of time deodorant particles are suspended, thus making them more efficient and effective. By placing covering and mats, we can mitigate against potential water staining.
Removing stubborn odors in tight spaces is a challenge that does not disappear by itself. Contact SERVPRO of Texarkana at 903-832-4400
